NICU....Almost over...?

So, the boys are doing great. Owen weighs 6lbs, 9 1/2 (down 1/2oz from yesterday) and Silas weighs 7lbs. 2 1/2 oz. (up 1/2 oz from yesterday).

Their nurse Barb asked the Dr. to move them to an Ad Lib/Demand schedule and let them show us what they can do. This is basically the last hurdle they have to jump before going home (!!!!). What this entails is basically 24-48 hrs of them successfully controlling exactly what and when they eat. Not really my style of parenting, but the doctors want to know that they have the drive to say 'Hey, I'm hungry, so feed me now!'  Successfully is the catch, and this means that they have to take at the least 75mL every 4 hours and they have to gain weight in the 24 hour period. Gain, not just maintain.

Barb, the nurse thinks that this could mean that they could go home on Friday....Dr. Azuero mentioned that they could go home tomorrow. Super exciting, but I'm hesitant to take anything to the bank until they say 'You're leaving today!'

Go Silas & Owen. Show those doctors what you can do.
