What a BEAUTIFUL weekend! 60 + degree weather, grillin' out, relaxing, spending time with family, catching up with old friends, doing a liiiiiiittle bit of shopping....and FINISHING the cabinets & kitchen floors project!!!
I do have some before & after pictures, but my disclaimer is.....my before pictures are WAY before pictures.......like when we moved into our house 3 1/2 years ago. Lets go for a little tour.
Please note the cabinet color, and the ugly carpet floors. The paint color & window coverings have sinced changed as well....I could not find those pictures. (Side note: the wall color was navy when we moved in--this gray on the wall was a tinted primer)
We also re-arranged the cabinets two summers ago for "better flow" and things. At nearly the same time as rearranging the cabinets we replaced our appliances. The dishwasher & microwave kicked the bucket, so we replaced all 4 appliances. Again........not sure where those pics are.
How'd this little cutie get in there?!?!......Anyways.....a little background. Our original plan, okay, check that......MY original plan was to strip and refinish the cabinets a medium cherry color. We planned to install a laminate tile floor, that was in the neighborhood of $6.5/sq foot. THEN our "plan" became replace all of the cabinets and follow suit with the laminate tile floor. Shortly after that became our plan, God laughed, and Hayden came along....
$10k in new cabinets was no longer a good option.
A sneak peak at the appliances & cupboard colors. Also note the different color on the walls. So we opted to refinish our cabinets with oil based paint, in black, and lay laminate wood flooring which was considerably cheaper.
The "big view"
We do still have some work to do.....we plan to repaint the grate vents in the floor a copper/bronze color, install crown moulding on the tops of the cabinets, and maybe a year down the road we will replace the countertops. The catch with countertops is you then have to replace the sink. So a $250 countertop becomes.... oh like, $500-700 when you include the sink & faucet.
All in due time.

Hayden is VERY pleased :) Thanks for all your hard work, Daddy! You did a great job!
